WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED AND WHY?
"Money is worthless unless you use it to make your life better." Freedom means different things to different people. That's why everybody has to have their own unique planning tools to guide them as they journey through their lives. It's also why people have to get crystal clear on what is most important to them and to re-engage with what was most important to them before the world convinced them otherwise.
WHO HAS INSPIRED YOU AND WHY?
My kids have inspired me to be more and be better. I want them to see me struggle. I talk out loud about my challenges so that they learn that life is not about not being afraid...it's about being bigger than your fears, being persistent, and finding other ways to get what you want.
WHAT IS THE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU COULD SHARE WITH OUR READERS TO UPLIFT THEM IN LIFE AND CAREER?
You had no control over how you were raised, what you learned in school or what has happened to you in life. You do get to choose what you believe today and you can pass that belief on to who you are tomorrow.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK AND HOW DID IT INSPIRE YOU?
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Even if they know it consciously, most people don't fully grasp how toxic negative self-talk and self-limiting beliefs can be. They also don't realize how much we absorb beliefs about ourselves from others. When we absorb those beliefs, we take actions that are consistent with those beliefs, then we get the results that are consistent with those actions. All unhealthy behaviors are a symptom of living an unfulfilled life and people need coaching to get back into alignment with their life's purpose.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELAX?
I relax by reading. I also enjoy coffee, campfires, hot bubble baths and sitting in the sun. I smile even when I don't feel like smiling.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CHALLENGES YOU OR YOUR INDUSTRY FACES, AND HOW DO YOU OVERCOME THOSE?
One of the biggest challenges for coaches is overcoming their fear of visibility. It's really hard to make yourself vulnerable to people by putting yourself out there in photo, video, audio, etc. We're afraid that making mistakes in front of others will undermine our credibility. In reality, it just makes us human.
I overcome this fear by forcing myself out of my comfort zone. I believe that anxiety is proof that I am pushing myself to do better. I also regularly connect with other coaches so that I can remember that we all struggle with the same things.
WHAT IS ONE TREND IN YOUR INDUSTRY THAT EXCITES YOU?
People are becoming more aware that so many areas of our lives are interconnected and that we can't file finances completely separate from relationships, mental health, nutrition, etc. It's not about making edits in a particular area; it's learning how to accept ourselves as a whole person and acknowledging all parts of ourselves as we craft our own individual and unique plan.
WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU DO EVERY DAY THAT ADDS TO YOUR SUCCESS?
I keep a small journal titled, "Everyday" and each day I write down what I've done for my business, even if it's very small. This ensures that I am always moving in the right direction, even when I don't feel like I am. At any time, I can do a "lookback" at the last month or last six months to remind myself of how far I've come.
WHAT TECHNOLOGY PRODUCT CAN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT?
My calendar. I could not be near as productive without my diligent calendaring habits.
PLEASE, FINISH THIS STATEMENT: LEADERSHIP IS...
walking alongside others as they as they reconnect with their core values and their life's purpose.
